FULL-TIME
Position: Special Education Support Professional
Salary Range: $40,000 – 50,000
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops and coordinates the implementation of the Special Education program
- Serves as the LEA for all Special Education meetings
- Manage a caseload of students of up to 10 students
- Observes classroom environment and makes recommendations for improvement in instruction and classroom management as appropriate
- Ensures compliance of IDEA and all federal and state guidelines
- Maintains special education records
- Gathers and analyzes data on student achievement for progress monitoring for all students on an IEP
- Coordinates departmental and other Special Education meetings
- Ensures all Special Education teachers and paraprofessionals are properly certified and trained
- Meets with teachers, staff and parents to discuss the implementation of the Special Education program goals
- Coordinates and provides related professional development opportunities for classroom teachers
- Participates in various professional and community organizations; attends various workshops, seminars and conferences to continuously update professional knowledge in services for students with learning disabilities
- Develops and maintains a network of contacts to assist in the implementation of the school’s disability programs
- Substitute for Special Education when necessary
