Executive Director has been selected by PACE Academy Board of Directors
Columbia, South Carolina – On May 21, 2020, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted to hire Melissa Rabon as the first Executive Director for PACE Academy.
“The vision Melissa painted during her interview was extremely insightful,” Stephen Wilson, PACE Academy board chairman, said. “Her ability to engage the community, rally her staff, and inspire students will be forever engrained in PACE’s culture.”
Rabon, a National Board Certified Secondary English Teacher, has ten years of educational experience, much of which has been dedicated to bridging the gap between general and special education. She has dedicated her educational career to ensuring all students have access to an appropriate education and was active in advocating for the dyslexia screening bill to pass in South Carolina in 2018.
“We are excited to have Melissa Rabon as our new Executive Director,” said Dr. Jodi Zeis, PACE Academy board vice chair. “Her vision of excellence for those who often struggle in school is inspiring. We look forward to working with Ms. Rabon as she builds the foundation for PACE Academy.”
In addition to her experience as an educator, Rabon also has over ten years of business management, event planning, and marketing experience, which will be necessary in building a new educational experience for students in the Midlands.
“We were impressed with Melissa’s knowledge of both business and education,” Wilson said. “This position will require all aspects of business management as well as the development of an educational environment that will allow children with dyslexia to flourish.”
