Description: Elementary teachers are responsible for coordinating and implementing activities that assist students in all academic, social, and developmental skills needed to develop into mature, able, and responsible young men and women. Elementary teachers develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. Elementary Teachers will establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and will work with the PACE administrative team to ensure all student needs are met. This is a 195-day position.

About us: PACE Academy, opening fall 2021, is a FREE public charter school that specializes in meeting the unique instructional needs of students with dyslexia and other reading struggles.

About the role: The person in this role will have a bachelor’s degree in education or other field appropriate for a charter-school teacher in SC. This person will possess an ability to teach and communicate at an age-appropriate level for grade school children (exposure gained through volunteer work and/or as part of higher education curriculum is acceptable). Must be authorized to teach for a charter school in the state of SC.  Experience working with students with reading struggles, or training in Orton-Gillingham instruction considered an added benefit, but not required.
