Melissa Rabon

Executive Director

Mrs. Rabon completed her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a minor in English at the University of South Carolina in 2005 and began her professional career in retail management and hospital computer sales. In 2010, she earned her Secondary English certification through the SC Program of Alternative Certification for Educators (PACE) and went on to teach high school English for 10 years. In 2017, she earned her National Board Certification in English Language Arts, and in 2020, she completed her Master’s degree in Special Education. In April 2022, she completed her 100 practicum hours and earned her Associate-Level Certification through the Academy of Orton-Gillingham.

Mrs. Rabon is the proud mother of two neuro-divergent children who inspired her to create a learning environment that specifically serves students like her own. In 2019, she gathered a group of like-minded people to form the Midlands’ first tuition-free public school for children with dyslexia and other reading struggles. She has committed herself to working with the Board of Directors to establish a place that is not only a great place for neuro-divergent learners but also a great place for educators to be empowered to be the best they can be. Through collaboration with the PACE Board, Mrs. Rabon believes that they can create a caring and nurturing work environment for educators that will empower their team to be a shining example in South Carolina’s public education system.
